These terms apply to every Annapurna Circuit trek booked through annapurnacircuittrek.co.uk. The trek is operated by 6K Nepal Treks Pvt. Ltd., a Nepal-registered trekking company based at Buddha Chowk, Pokhara-10, Kaski 33700, Nepal. Booking with us means you accept what follows.
Booking and confirmation
A booking exists once we have (a) received your deposit and (b) sent you a written confirmation naming your trek dates, itinerary version and total price. An enquiry, a quote or a held date is not a booking, and costs you nothing.
You must be 18 or over to book. Trekkers under 18 are welcome on the Circuit but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who books on their behalf.
Your confirmation states which itinerary you are on: the 8-day standard Circuit, the 10-day with Tilicho Lake or the 11-day lakes route. Changing itinerary after confirmation may change the price.
Deposit and payment
We take a 10% deposit in GBP to confirm your dates and reserve your guide. The deposit is processed through our brand hub, 6knepaltreks.com, by card or bank transfer.
The balance is paid in Nepal before the trek starts, in GBP, USD or NPR cash, or by card. We invoice in GBP so the price you agreed is the price you pay, regardless of exchange-rate movement between booking and departure.
| Deposit | 10% of the total, in GBP, at booking |
|---|---|
| Balance | In Nepal, before departure, GBP, USD, NPR or card |
| Currency risk | Carried by us. Your GBP price is fixed at booking. |
| Card surcharge | Nepali banks levy a card fee on the balance; paying cash avoids it |
What the package price covers is set out in full on the cost page. In short: guide, porter, all permits, every teahouse night, three meals a day on the trail, and ground transport. It does not cover international flights, your Nepal visa, insurance, city hotel nights, tips or personal spending.
Cancellation by you
Plans change. Our sliding scale is deliberately generous at the far end because we would rather you moved your trek than walked it in the wrong condition or the wrong month.
| 30 or more days before departure | Free cancellation, deposit refunded in full |
| 14–29 days before departure | 50% of the deposit refunded |
| Fewer than 14 days before departure | Deposit forfeited; no balance is due |
| Date change, more than 14 days out | Free, we move the deposit to your new dates |
Cancellations must be sent in writing to info@annapurnacircuittrek.co.uk. The date we receive that email is the date used.
Force majeure. If you cannot travel because of events outside your control (natural disaster, civil disruption, an airline collapse, a government travel ban, or a border closure), we will hold your deposit as credit for 24 months rather than keep it. This is not a legal obligation; it is how we choose to run the business.
Cancellation or change by us
Mountains overrule itineraries. We may change or abandon part of a trek for reasons including snow closing Thorong La, avalanche or landslide risk, a trekker needing to descend, guide illness, or the Muktinath road blocked by a landslide.
- If we cancel before departure, you get a full refund of everything paid, or a free move to new dates, your choice.
- If we alter the route mid-trek for safety, there is no refund for the changed section. Safety decisions are the guide's to make and are final.
- If a trekker must descend, unused teahouse nights and meals are not refunded, because they are already committed.
We will never press on over Thorong La to protect a schedule. Our guides have the authority to turn a group around, and they are backed for doing it.
Travel insurance is mandatory
You cannot trek the Annapurna Circuit with us without insurance. This is a condition of booking, not a recommendation. Your policy must cover:
- Trekking to at least 6,000 m, the altitude of Thorong La. Many standard UK policies stop at 3,000 m or 4,000 m and would not cover the pass.
- Helicopter evacuation and repatriation. A rescue flight from above Manang is expensive and is the reason this clause exists.
- Emergency medical treatment in Nepal.
- Cancellation and curtailment.
Send us your policy number and emergency assistance number before departure. We check the altitude limit. We would rather find the gap in Pokhara than at 4,800 m. See our Thorong La guide for what the crossing actually demands.
Health and altitude declaration
You must tell us, in writing before departure, about any medical condition that could affect you at altitude or in a remote area, including heart conditions, high blood pressure, asthma or other respiratory disease, diabetes, epilepsy, blood-clotting disorders, pregnancy, recent surgery, and any previous episode of altitude sickness.
Withholding this does not void your booking, but it does make it far harder for your guide to help you. See our altitude sickness guide for what the Circuit demands of your body, and discuss the trek with your GP or a UK travel clinic first.
You accept that altitude sickness is a real risk on this trek, that it can affect fit and unfit people alike, and that its severe forms can be fatal. You also accept that your guide may order you to descend, and that this decision is not negotiable on the mountain. Refusing a descent instruction ends your trek without refund.
Guides, porters and conduct
Our guides are licensed by the Government of Nepal and our porters are insured, equipped and load-limited in line with IPPGprinciples. Porters carry up to about 12 kg of your kit; anything beyond that needs a second porter, arranged at cost.
Tipping is customary but genuinely discretionary and never included in the package price. Trekkers commonly tip in the region of £8–£12 per day for the guide and £5–£8 per day for the porter, pooled across the group.
We reserve the right to end the trek of anyone whose behaviour endangers others, or who is abusive to staff or teahouse hosts, without refund.
Liability
Trekking at altitude in a remote mountain region carries inherent risk that no operator can remove. We accept liability for loss or injury caused by our own negligence or that of our staff. We do not accept liability for:
- Events outside our reasonable control, including weather, avalanche, landslide, earthquake, flight cancellation and road closure
- Loss or damage to personal belongings, which is a matter for your insurance
- Consequences of your own failure to disclose a medical condition, or to follow your guide's safety instructions
- Independent activities you undertake outside the trek programme
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a UK consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
Complaints
Tell your guide first, on the trail, while it can still be fixed. Most problems can be. If that does not resolve it, email info@annapurnacircuittrek.co.uk. We acknowledge complaints within 3 working days and aim to resolve them within 28 days.
Your data, and governing law
How we handle the details you give us is set out in our privacy notice. We do not sell your data.
These terms are governed by the law of Nepal, where the trek is operated and the company is registered. Where you book as a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory UK consumer law.
