6K Nepal Treks is a locally owned trekking company based in Pokhara, the city the Annapurna Circuit finishes in and the town most of our guides live in. It was co-founded by Rohit Timilsina, who grew up in the shadow of the Annapurna range. We run the Annapurna Circuit directly, with our own government-licensed guides and porters. We are not a reseller and we do not subcontract your trek to another agency. When you enquire on this site, you are talking to the team that will actually walk with you over Thorong La.
Over more than five years we have guided trekkers from 30+ countries around the Annapurna massif, across the restricted Manaslu Circuit and through the desert canyons of Upper Mustang. We built this domain, annapurnacircuittrek.co.uk, so UK walkers could find the Nepali operator without paying a UK agency markup on top. Deposits and payments are handled through our brand hub, 6knepaltreks.com; the trek itself is delivered by us, on the ground, in Nepal.

Rohit was born and raised in the shadow of the Annapurna range. Friends call him Haku. He holds Government of Nepal trekking guide licence #1497, issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and is first-aid certified for high-altitude wilderness emergencies. In over five years he has guided trekkers from more than 30 countries across the Annapurna, Manaslu and Everest regions. His highest guided crossing is Thorong La at 5,416 m, the pass this whole trek is built around, and the reason we take acclimatisation on the Circuit as seriously as we do.
He is known for putting safety over schedule. On one Annapurna departure he held his group back a full day when avalanche risk was high, while other guides pushed on. His trekkers still write about that decision in their reviews. It is exactly the judgement you want on the Manang side of the Circuit, where the choice of whether to go up to High Camp or wait a day is made by a person, not a spreadsheet.

We carry Nepal government guide licensing and active membership of the two industry bodies that matter for a Himalayan trek operator. Licence documents are available on request, and we would encourage you to verify any operator, including us, against the official registries before paying a deposit.

Individual guide licences are published; company registry numbers are not yet listed here. Every guide licence number above can be checked against the Government of Nepal guide register. We would rather show you the numbers we can evidence than pad this table with figures you cannot verify.
How to verify a Nepal trek operator. Ask for the guide licence number and cross-check any agency against the Nepal Tourism Board register and the TAAN member directory before paying a deposit. If a UK agency cannot give you the Nepal operator's licence number, they are a reseller. Ours is #1497.
Why we sell direct to UK trekkers
When you book a Nepal trek through a UK agency, the agency takes a margin and then hands you to a Nepali subcontractor, who may rotate guides season to season. Booking direct with the operator that actually runs your trek has three real advantages:
You pay the operator price. There is no UK agency margin on top, because there is no UK agency in the chain. Our Annapurna Circuit is from £660 per person; compare that against any UK-packaged Circuit trip before you book. Full breakdown on the cost page.
You talk to your guide before you fly. WhatsApp Rohit or your lead guide directly. Your dates, fitness, dietary needs and kit questions go straight to the team on the ground, not to a call centre.
Operator accountability. If something goes wrong on the pass, you are dealing with the company delivering the trek, not a UK reseller pointing at Nepal, or a Nepali agency pointing back at the UK.
It also means we can change the itinerary for you rather than around you. Adding the Tilicho Lake detour, collecting the high lakes on the 11-day lakes route, or keeping it tight on the 8-day Circuit are decisions we make with you, in a WhatsApp thread, in an afternoon.
Our porter welfare policy
Porters are the backbone of any Himalayan trek and the most exploited people in the industry. The Circuit makes that worse than most routes, because Thorong La day is genuinely cold and genuinely high, and a badly equipped porter is the person most at risk on it. Our policy:
Maximum 24 kg load per porter (two trekkers' duffels), well below the 30 kg industry norm
Proper kit: insulated jacket, waterproofs, waterproof boots, sunglasses for the snow above High Camp, and a sleeping bag rated to −10 °C
Accommodation and meals to the same standard as guests' teahouse rooms
Porter insurance covering medical treatment and evacuation
Rest days whenever the group rests: porters never push through illness to keep a client's schedule, and never cross the pass carrying a load they would not carry at sea level
Our porters are long-serving members of the team, not day hires picked up at the trailhead. Both have more than a decade of high-altitude carrying between them, and both have crossed Thorong La more times than most of the trekkers they carry for.
How we keep UK trekkers safe on the Circuit
The Annapurna Circuit crosses Thorong La at 5,416 m. That is more than a kilometre higher than the point at which acute mountain sickness starts to be a genuine risk, and people have died on this pass. Our safety protocol is built around preventing altitude illness rather than treating it after the fact:
